26 March 2015
On 24 March, the "Roberto Simonsen" Senai school, located in Brás, São Paulo, held the 'Multiculturalism and Cultural Diversity in the Contemporary World' macro meeting, promoted by the One School One Country programme as part of the official WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 agenda. The purpose of the discussion was promoting an educational support activity for the 55 schools receiving delegations that are participating in the Competition in Brazil in August.
Directors, Educational Coordinators and Teachers of the schools participating in the programme, were present, as well as representatives from Senai and the Pé na Escola NGO.
WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 CEO, Frederico Lamego, highlighted the Competition benefits, consolidating professional education in Brazil, and mentioned the legacy of WorldSkills Helsinki 2005, in Finland. After the event in Helsinki, the number of technical school students more than doubled in Finland.
The event also included a presentation about the "Roberto Simonsen" SENAI School by João Roberto Campaner, the unit´s Director, and a presentation of theOne School One Country programme. Participants were invited to visit a few classrooms and laboratories at the Senai Brás school.
Another event highlight was the seminar and group activity promoted by Pé Na Escola, an NGO that works in educational environments connecting people with their rights and their role in society. The three NGO representatives promoted a debate involving the entire audience in a very relaxing and fun environment, covering issues related to religion and different cultures, contextualizing the multiculturalism concept and the role of educators, parents and students in situations like these. The event was a great success, with 110 participants.
