Loïc Forthomme

Competitor in Skill: Mechanical Engineering Design - CAD
Country: Belgium

How did you get interested in your skill?
Since my first technical drawing lesson in high school, four years ago.

Where did you do your training for your skill?
At school and at home.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
By school and by the press.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
My teachers at school. They helped me to get better in my job. But it’s mainly the fact that I love my job who motivates me the most.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
This was a great experience to live and I will remember it all my life! The mood between all the opponents worth the shot! And the challenge was different from what we do usually.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
My victory and the podium during the Startech’s Days.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
We feel the pressure raising until d-day. But fortunately we are well supervised to prepare for this event.

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
Of course, we learn new things, new techniques to get better in precision and speed.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I’m in high school at “La Haute Ecole de la Province de Liège” in Electromechanics. I’m in 2nd grade and I still have a year of study.

What are your future career aspirations?
I’m not quite sure of my choices. First of all, I want to finish my studies before getting to know what I want to do next.
