Worldskills International is ready to the 43rd edition of the biggest vocational training Competition in the world

From 11 to 16 August, Brazil will receive the biggest vocational training competition in the world, WorldSkills Competition, which is held since 1950 and will hold its 43rd edition this year. WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 will be hosted at Anhembi Park, in São Paulo, and approximately 200,000 visitors are expected to follow 50 different skills, related to technical professions, that will be played by 1,200 Competitors from more than 50 countries.

To have an idea about the dispute dimensions, the WorldSkills Competition will take the whole available area of Anhembi Park between the Expositions Pavilion and the Sambadrome, in a total area of 212,000 m². To prepare a complex event like this, WorldSkills International, owner of the Competition, the Organizing Committee in Brazil and SENAI (National Service for Industrial Training), is promoting the Competition Preparation Week - CPW2015 1-5 February. The event, starring at Renaissance Hotel, in São Paulo, has the intention to gather Technical Delegates, Chief Experts, Observers, Evaluators, Workshop Managers, besides Sponsors.

“During the week, we will assemble different parts directly involved and responsible for the Competition to discuss details like: evaluation criteria to each skill, kinds of tests and challenges that will be applied, materials and equipment necessary, among others. Besides that we will also take the opportunity to make all these important people approach to the success of the event, as Sponsors and the responsible of the technical and structural definitions of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015. The objective is to familiarize them with this edition”, explains Osvaldo Borges, CEO of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.

During the meetings, other activities and actions were predicted, too. One of them is the launch of the Commemorative Postage Stamp especially about the Competition, on 3 February at Renaissance Hotel also. In the same day, there will be the presentation of One School One Country Programme (OSOC), which will contemplate the Delegations (represented by WorldSkills International Members countries and regions) visitation to private and public schools of São Paulo in the period of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015. The OSOC launch will have the participation of official authorities from each education area and the Delegations´ representatives, who will be presented to the students and responsible for each school.

The programming also includes visits to the hotels that will receive the Competitors and to Anhembi Park, thus everybody will have the opportunity to know the place that will host the Competition. “WorldSkills Competition has as one of its basic premises the experience and knowledge sharing between Members countries and regions. Our intention is to strengthen it during the Competition Preparation Week, promoting the integration between people of different nations that will be part of the event”, concludes Borges.
