Second day of Competition Preparation Week had presentations about infrastructure and rules

26 February 2015

The second day of Competition Preparation Week was focused on important progress in the event's organization. The first plenary meetings and work groups involved Chief Experts, Deputy Chief Experts, Workshop Managers and Workshop Managers Assistants. Many important details about infrastructure and the Competition Rules were presented.

David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International, spoke about the importance of skills excellence and development. “When we talk about our values, mission and objectives, we are more than just a Skills Competition, although the Competitions will always be our flagship event. For us, the most important thing is always to talk about skills excellence, we are recognized for the unique work that we do within our six focus areas. Even though we have 72 Member countries and regions, more than 140 countries use information from WorldSkills International. In other words, there are countries that come to us looking for skills information and guidance.”

Ademir Bernardes, Technical Coordinator of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015, made some comments on what participants can expect of the 43rd WorldSkills Competition. “Anhembi Park is the biggest event venue in Latin America, with more than 400,000 m² of area. We will use 213,000 m²,” he explained.

The meeting closed with clarifications and updates about the Competition Rules, including integrated assessment and the issue and dispute resolution process.
