One School One country

On 3 July, members of the Competition Organizer in São Paulo presented the “One School One Country” programme during a meeting at the Department of Education of São Paulo.

During the meeting, an institutional partnership was presented, aiming to get an indication of schools in the state and city of São Paulo. The member of Secretary seemed really interested in helping the programme and giving all the support to make this happen.

To Paulo Pandjiarjian, Institutional and Governmental Relations Coordinator, the meeting was deeply useful. “There was much interest and the team made themselves available to conduct the implementation of the programme properly. It was informed that a public hearing in Congress, involving the Committees of Education and Science and Technology of the House of Representatives and the Senate, would be held about WorldSkills São Paulo 2015. The meeting, scheduled for 26 November, will have the participation of, and a speech by the Secretary of Education of São Paulo, Professor Hermann Voorwald among other governmental authorities.

“One School One Country” is aligned to the strategy of exposing youth and educators to the opportunities available through professional education. According to research commissioned by the CNI Ibope in January this year, although 90% of Brazilians believe that making a vocational technical course brings more job opportunities, only 6% of young people opt for technical degrees. In the 34 most developed nations, the average youth pursuing professional education is 35%, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

“We are articulating alliances with local education authorities with the aim of mobilizing about 60 schools, public and private, to receive delegations from other countries and promote interaction of Brazilian students and young competitors encouraging more than 10,000 students to learn about and pursue technical careers in the future,” said Lissandra Pellizzon, programme Coordinator.
