How did you get interested in your skill?
My college lecturer Chris Cooper at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College encouraged me to pursue CNC Turning as a career.

Where did you do your training for your skill?
I trained at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
When I was at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College I was encouraged to enter WorldSkills UK Skills Competitions and I got involved after seeing how far skills competitions could take you. I am proud to say that after winning Gold in CNC Turning in the WorldSkills UK Skills Competitions at The Skills Show in 2013, I am now representing the UK in CNC Turning at WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.

 Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
It was my lecturer Chris Cooper at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College. Chris now works for Mori Seiki and is my Training Manager for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
After winning Gold in the WorldSkills UK Skills Competitions at The Skills Show 2013, I was invited to compete for a place in Squad UK. After training with Squad UK, I competed for a place in Team UK for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 and will be representing the UK in CNC Turning at the Competition.
I have also worked with SEMTA, the organising partner for the WorldSkills UK Skills Competition in CNC Turning to run the 2014 competition and coach the competitors taking part. I really enjoyed this experience and it also allowed me to build on my own skills and knowledge.


Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
Winning Gold in winning Gold in the WorldSkills UK Skills Competitions at The Skills Show in 2013 and being told I was in Team UK for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
As part of Squad UK for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015, I have completed a varied training programme supported by my Training Manager Chris Cooper. This has included a week’s training in Denmark with Mastercam and further training with Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK, and the engineering group Sandvik.

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
Yes most definitely! WorldSkills looks great on my CV and helped me secure my role with MNB Precision.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I work at MNB Precision

What are your future career aspirations?
I plan to keep working hard and broaden my engineering knowledge. I also have an ambition to run my own business.
