Daniel Carlberg
- Age: 21 years
Competitor in Skill: Bricklaying
Country: Sweden
How did you get interested in your skill?
Well I´ve always loved to build things and work with my own hands and that I chose to become a
bricklayer I think was because it was what I find the most interesting professional in school. And
also that my uncle has one of the largest bricklaying companies in Gothenburg, so thats good when i need a job.
Where did you do your training for your skill?
My training I did in the school where I went and got my graduation.
How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
That was right after I won the Swedish championships and I was told that I would be a part of
World Skills Sweden.
Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
I think it was my stepdad who really thought it would be a great thing for me to do.
What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
I don’t have so much experience, not yet anyway. But I think it´s really fun and a thing I will always remember of the rest of my life.
Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
So far, I think it´s my training. Where I got the chance to practise something that I really love to do! But also our meetings we have with the Swedish team who just is so fun.
Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
I´ve learned that even if it´s a really fun trip I will do, it´s also about really hard work both before
with all the training but also during the competition.
Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in
your skill? Please describe.
Not so much as you would think, because in the competitions we are doing some really advanced
detailed bricklaying. And on my work we are more doing just an ordinary bricklaying.
What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I work in one of the biggest bricklayings companies in Gothenburg here in Sweden where we at the moment are building some new apartments buildings next to the water in the center of Gothenburg.
What are your future career aspirations?
Maybe someday start my own bricklaying companies and become one of the largest in Sweden.
