It has always been my passion to study the anatomy & physiology of the body, especially the skin. The skin is our largest organ, which we only received one of. For me, it is the windows of our soul, and to be able to treat that, is phenomenal.

I grew up on a farm in the Free State and went to High School in Bloemfontein. It was really difficult to choose a career. I enjoy working with my hands, to be active and to work with people. Then I found out of Isa Carstens Academy in Stellenbosch where I can study a 3 year Somatology course, with a NQF level 6. The practical work included skin and body care, and some advanced skin and body courses. The theory subjects that really caught my attention were Nutrition, Biotics, Dermatology, Business planning and management, Physiology & Anatomy. When I found out about that, I knew that this is exactly what I want to study! It’s like the whole package in one!
So then in my 2nd year I competed in the Western Cape’s Regional competition where I won, and a few months after that, competed in the Nationals where I won the 1st price again. Now, in a few days’ time, I’m heading to Brazil with the SA TEAM for the Internationals!
At this moment I’m almost done with the 3rd year qualification and will study my 4th year for my degree to do more advanced skin treatments and aesthetics. It’s my total passion to work with the skin, and one day, I WILL work together with a plastic surgeon! That it my life’s biggest goal that I want to reach.
