How did you get interested in your skill?
When I was growing up my Dad was a mechanic, so when he was fixing cars in the garage I would go out and help him and thats where it all began.


Where did you do your training for your skill?
I train at work for my apprenticeship with Mito, and I train for WorldSkills with my tutor from Wintec.


How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
I was asked by Wintec to compete in the Regional competition and learned more about WSNZ after winning the regionals and heading to the National competition.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
My dad, he suggested it as a possible career path while I was in high school. Also where I was doing work experience at Goodhue Automotive.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
Competing in the Zregional, National, and Oceania competitions at Wontec Hamilton. Also all the training from my Wintec tutor Ray Hall.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
Representing New Zealand at the Oceania Competition and placing second.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills.
I have learned so much over the past year and improved in my abilities as a Technician. I have achieved lots and am constantly improving with all the extra training.


Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
Yes, I notice my improvements in everyday work activities, with now I go about my work and the overall outcome of what I do has impoved so much.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I am an Automotive Technician Apprentice and I work for Waikato Toyota in Hamilton.

What are your future career aspirations?
I want to become a master technician in diagnostics and complete all the training I can to someday own and manage my own workshop.
