How did you get interested in your skill?
From a young age I had a huge interest in cars and motor racing. I grew up around cars because my family have been involved in the motor trade for years.

Where did you do your training for your skill?
For my apprenticeship, I was in college in Cork and in DIT in Dublin for my training. You also do on the job training which I did while working in G Bushe Motors.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
I heard from my lecturers while I was in college in Cork and again in Dublin about Ireland Skills and the competition. I was nominated for the preliminary exams while I was in DIT in Dublin.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
My father, Gabriel, was my biggest influence on my career path.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
It has been a very enjoyable experience and it has been great getting to know new people in the same trade and other trades.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
Being selected to represent my country in the Worldskills competition and Meeting Team Ireland for the first time has been the most memorable moment so far.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
It has been rewarding, challenging, interesting and fun so far and I’m looking forward to the next few months.

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
Yes. It has been a huge help. The training has been great and I have learned lots of new things. It has also given me more confidence.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I currently work as a Automobile Technician in the father’s business, G Bushe Motors, in Dublin. There we work on all makes of vehicles.

What are your future career aspirations?
I would like to expand my father’s business, however I will consider every opportunity to further my career.
