How did you get interested in your skill? I got interested in the skill from working along side my father and grandfather who were plumber’s as well. So from then on growing up as a chield I always wanted to keep the plumbing going true the family.

Where did you do your training for your skill? I completed my apprenticeship in Athlone Institute of Technology and have been preparing for the WorldSkills competition in Cork Institute of Technology.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs? I first heard about IrelandSkills through a lecturer when I was doing my apprenticeship in Athlone Institute of Technology.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career? My father and my grandfather.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization? Very good because encouraging organisation.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills? Getting to meet the rest of Team and making new friends.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills. My experience is that a lot of hard work goes into it and you have to blank everything else out of your life while you are at it.

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe. Yes it has helped me a lot. I have become more focused on accurate measurements and producing quality work within a tight time frame.

What do you currently do? Where do you work? I am currently a plumber, I am a third generation plumber in my family. I work with Tim Kelly Group from Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo.

What are your future career aspirations? Hopefully to work for myself and have my own business someday.
