How did you get interested in your skill?
I love drawing when I was a child. While I was studying in secondary school I started accessing to the field graphic design through the Internet. I was amazed by the diversity of professional graphic design products and became interested in creating practical design.

Where did you do your training for your skill?
I do my technical training mostly in Hong Kong Design Institute and at home. I will discuss the past papers of WorldSkills competitions with my tutors, try executing them with my learnt software skills and improve myself according to the feedback.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
After my secondary study I was looking for the opportunity of future study and that was the time I found out Hong Kong Design Institute. Then I had applied the Higher Diploma in Visual Communication in order to pursue on my interest and ability to my career.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
I will say my parents. In fact, they influence my path by making less influence. They give me much freedom to choose what I want to do and who I want to be. I receive great support from them and make me confident to continue my study on design and purse my skill as career.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
It is my first time to participate in such a big event and I feel fortune to be backed up by my member organization. However, since I have already graduated from Hong Kong Design Institute, I have to stick with the training schedule and keep up with my works in the university at the same time. It is quite a challenge for me on my time management but I think I am doing well and keep improving. It is also grateful that the cooperation with the member organisation is also helpful to keep me on track.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
For me, the most memorable moment is the announcement of my winning in the WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition on the awarding ceremony. On that day, standing in front of enormous audience to receive the greatest honour was the most impressive experience for me. It has been a recognition of my abilities and effort to my aspects of skills, and also the greatest supporting force encouraging me to keep moving on.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
My life had become more packed at the beginning since I had to take care of both the WorldSkills training and the courses in the university. Fortunately, some of the subject content of my design degree can be collaboration with my trained design skills, allowing me to make good use of what I had learnt at both sides and save more time. This helped me to achieve better time management.

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress in your skill? Please describe.
I receive great support from Hong Kong Design Institute and the tutors during the training. Besides the professional advice for improvement on graphic design, I had the opportunity to access to industrial-standard equipment and software that I rarely use in my school life such as professional paper cutting machine for packaging design. These experience make me more familiar to how design works in the industry and how I can become a more practical designer.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
I am currently studying Communication Design in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Later I will be working in a local company for internship as a graphic designer.

What are your future career aspirations?
I would like to become a graphic designer after graduation and bring more innovation to the local design industry. Starting from a junior designer, I hope to gradually become an art director and keep creating impressive design project.
