Tobias Langer

Competitor in Skill: Industrial Control
Country: Germany

How did you get interested in your skill?
I am very interested in electricity, since I have learned about it at school. Because of
this, I began an apprenticeship as an electronics technician for automation technology
three years ago.

Where did you do your training for your skill?
My training is at my workplace in Burghausen at BBiW, Wacker Chemie AG.

How did you first find out about your Member organization and its programs?
I have heard about it very often at my workplace during my apprenticeship, because
some of my co-workers were competitors at WorldSkills, too.

Who influenced you to pursue your skill as a career?
My family motivated me to do what I enjoy and what I'm good with. So I began this
apprenticeship at Wacker Chemie AG.

What is your experience in participating with your Member organization?
My experience is very well. At my Member organization all people are very nice and
friendly and I think we are a very good national team.

Describe your most memorable moment so far with WorldSkills?
The most memorable moment of WorldSkills so far was the moment I was told that I'm
chosen to represent Germany in this skill.

Describe what your experience has been since your involvement with WorldSkills
It is a very good feeling to be in this team and to be able to show my skills in such a big
challenge.

Did participating in the skills competitions and training for WorldSkills help you progress
in your skill? Please describe.
Yes, it helped a lot. I'm going to have the final tests of my apprenticeship and the
preparation trained my accuracy and my speed very well.

What do you currently do? Where do you work?
At the moment I finish my apprenticeship as an electronics technician for automation
technology at Wacker Chemie AG in Burghausen and I'm going to finish it at the end of
June.

What are your future career aspirations?
After my apprenticeship I will attend secondary school and afterwards I want to go to
university.
